Although 2020 has turned our lives into a living hell, Paatal Lok is a crime-thriller web series premiered on Amazon Prime starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Banerjee, Gul Panag, Neeraj Kabi, Ishwak Singh and Swastika Mukherjee. It is loosely based on Tarul Tejpal’s novel The Story of My Assassins that’s about a disabused cop who gets into a case of failed assassination attempt. This investigation thriller is inspired by the Hindu mythological concept of ‘lok’ wherein Swarga (heaven), Dharti (Earth) and Paatal (hell) are the metaphors for different classes in the Indian society.

Carry Minati, a famous roast YouTuber, posted a video in response which got viral and broke many records. The video was later taken down by Youtube stating that the video promoted cyber bullying. The entire episode received heated responses from both sides and even got Bollywood celebs involved. Needless to say, the meme community is on fire since then.
