Bus route from India to London: Believe it or Not!

We are aware of the bus routes that ply inter-country or in between neighboring countries like that of India and Bangladesh and India and Pakistan. However, it is bizarre to think of long bus journeys, ones which require you to spend nights on a bus. There was once a time when buses used to ply between countries far, far away. During the 1960s, a bus used to run from Kolkata in India to London in England. The trips were covered by a double-decker bus and were run by Albert tours. It was considered to be the longest route in the world that would cost around INR 13,518 for a one-way trip. It might seem like nothing now, but it was a lot considering the times.

The tours were designed in a way that the tourists would travel in absolute luxury. There was a lounge in the bottom deck of the bus as well as a library. Music, a running kitchen, heaters were also a part of the vehicle. It would make stops at tourist spots along the journey for travelers to enjoy. Recently, a tourism company based on Gurugram in Delhi announced a bus service from Delhi to London. The trip would be 70 days long where the travelers would cover 20,000 km and 18 countries! The travelers would travel through countries like Myanmar, Thailand, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Belgium, and France.

The bus would have 20 seats and would be built especially for the trip. The whole trip from Delhi to London would cost a whopping INR 15 lakh per person. Tushar Agarwal, the co-founder of the tourism company, said, “We planned this trip after a lot of people passionate about traveling expressed their wish for a road trip to London. This was announced on August 15 and we hope that the first bus to London will be flagged off in May 2021. We have not started the registrations due to the coronavirus spread. The registrations will start after taking stock of the coronavirus situation in all the countries.” This new initiative would completely change the face of travel in India and give a brand new look to it. It is a great opportunity especially for the people who love to travel to get a taste of the different countries in just 70 days.
