Anything in space has always earned the tag of being something very expensive. Some of the very rich people have always been keen on buying a property in space. That can either be a part of the Moon’s land, a star, or an asteroid! However, how far can a person go out to spend to buy something in space that he might never see? Humans have always been keen to find out anything related to outer space. But how far will they go to possess an asteroid with the solid gold core?
Experts recently came across an asteroid called ‘16 Psyche’ which is made up of metallic iron and nickel with a core of solid gold. The asteroid has been estimated at a price of $10,000 quadrillion! Scientists have always been hopeful about finding precious metals in space that is yet to be mined. They have also speculated that there might be expensive substances like platinum, gold, and diamond buried deep inside an asteroid. This came to an end when NASA Psyche’s mission critically designed the metal-rock asteroid ’16 Psyche’. The asteroid is said to be made entirely of nickel and metallic iron with a solid gold core. If everyone on Earth could get their hands on $10,000 quadrillion dollars, it would make us all millionaires!
NASA, in July, said, “Since we can’t examine Earth’s core up-close, exploring the ‘16 Psyche’ (about 140 miles, or 226 kilometers, wide) could give valuable insight into how our own planet and others formed.” The space agency has taken initiative to explore the asteroid and create a spacecraft by the name ‘Psyche’. They wish to capture images and accumulate data regarding the composition and topography of the asteroid. They also wish to study the magnetic field that it possesses. NASA expressed their desire to collaborate with Space X to succeed in this mission. The organizations are hopeful to make a journey to the asteroid by 2022 if everything goes well.
