Atmanirbhar Bharat Gives Way to the Development of Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge

Atmanirbhar Bharat is an initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the dreams of constructing a self-reliant India. It is a step taken to ensure that the people are well-prepared to face the challenges that may come to the country post-pandemic. This initiative aims to support the citizens of the country and empower them to become more self-reliant. This has resulted in a hike in PPE kits. It was previously zero production, but now, it is standing at 2 lakh PPE kits daily. The movement focuses on 5 main pillars like the economy, infrastructure, system, vibrant demography, and demand.

Following the footsteps and guidelines set by the government, many have come up with innovative ideas to participate in the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Recently, in order to promote homegrown microprocessor companies, the government announced a contest by the name “Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge”. With the aim of building an Atmanirbhar Bharat, this challenge has taken up 100 companies who will win a total grant of Rs. 1 crore and 25 finalists will win Rs. 1 crore each. 10 companies that will reach the top will get Rs. 2.30 crore and support of 12 months of incubation.

Launched by the Union Minister of Law and Justice, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad, the initiative is aimed to provide further impetus to start-ups, research, and innovation in India. It will act as an Innovative Solution for Atmanirbhar Bharat. The government said, “As one of the concrete steps towards realizing the ambition of self-reliance and a momentous stride towards “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, this initiative is aimed at not only meeting India’s future requirements of strategic and industrial sectors but also has the potential to mitigate the issues of security, licensing, technology obsolescence and most crucially cutting dependency on imports.” The Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge is open to all students and all start-ups at any level. It aims to bring out the innovative power in the citizens of the country.
