Thailand is a Southeast Asian country popular for its tropical beaches, ruins, temples, shopping destinations, royal palaces, and what not! The country invests a significant amount of funds in upholding their infrastructure and making the country attractive to tourists. Its communication system and easy access to locations are two of the factors why tourists are so eager to visit the place. According to a survey, an averaged 1547464 number of tourists arrived in the country from 1997 to 2020. Each year around 32.59 million tourists visit Thailand. It is popular among tourists for its rich culture, environment, and nature. The place also attracts people for its polite and well-spoken residents.
However, the pandemic has stalled travel globally. International flights are getting canceled for many countries as they prepare for flattening the COVID curve. Many locations that earlier used to thrive on tourism are now facing a bad hit by the economy. Thailand, which earlier used to deal with such a large number of tourists, has now seen no tourists at all. Recently, it has been marked as the safest destination to visit while the pandemic lashes on. With its moderate population density, low COVID cases, the country made it to the list with an International Health Regulation Score of 85 percent.
Till 16th August, the country has only seen 3,377 positive COVID cases with 58 deaths. Since the past 83 days, there have been no domestic COVID cases that have been recorded in Thailand. Thus, it has secured its place in the top-10 safest destination list along with Japan, Greece, Italy, Uruguay, and Jordan. This assessment was conducted by a Berlin-based travel start-up by the name Tourlane. They concluded that Thailand is one of the safest places to visit after accumulating data and analyzing metrics. Hopefully, the country will soon start getting tourists after the restrictions are lifted and situations improve!
